i'm posting this thread because i think that luna brought up something that deserves to be discussed.
(ok, she didn't bring it up directly....)
i'm not posting this thread as a response specifically to luna's previous post, however, i am posting this thread because i think we should discuss this--har har har....
i will be posting a similar post in GP. i say 'similar' because i will be posting my question in a different format in the attempt to generate a different type of response.
anyway... here it is:
real vs. right
what do you think?

I'm sorry, but for some reason, it's not enough. I just don't feel right answering the question, really!

alex--
7/8 of the world's population (especially in america) feel the same way you do about speaking on this subject.
no wonder we have people telling us what to do 'round here.
can't no one have an opinion...

OK, I'll try again, I don't get your question.
Perhaps a little less background and a little more foreground would help.

from my interpretation...definately real. I am not a noble, moralist being because i believe in living in the 'real' world and putting up with it.
so if this wasn't what you had in mind shatsy, then i've just grossly misunderstood.

"Give me a place to stand, and I could move the earth" I saw this quote about 20 or more years ago, it was in reference to having "leverage", with the proper leverage, one could move the earth.
So, I say, we start with real and try to foster right...although right must not be too sure of itself.

Actually, I would respectfully suggest that the quote that you are refering to is from Archimides.......

But, I could be wrong?

Yes, the TV show did reference Archimedes, meaning the person who said the line was in fact quoting Archimedes, I didn't mean to imply that the actor or TV show or writer had come up with the original phrase.

By the way, this was actually a joke. HA, HA.

Instead of real versus right... How about Situational Ethics versus, Ethics, and how laws in America tend to focus on Ethics, the situation be damned.
